International Collaboration Through the Green Film Network

We are thrilled to announce that LandxSea has officially joined the Green Film Network!

This milestone establishes us as the first UK organisation to be part of this prestigious international alliance, which includes 32 film festivals across 23 countries, all committed to fostering environmental stewardship through the power of cinema.

The network's primary objectives include coordinating events of associated festivals, promoting and distributing films worldwide, and driving initiatives and projects that heighten awareness of environmental issues.

The GFN receives support from the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (CEC), a key division of the IUCN, recognised as one of the world's largest and most influential conservation organisations dedicated to biodiversity and nature protection.

Green Film Network

Rachel Caplan of LandxSea has been actively participating in the network since its inception in 2013, including hosting the annual GFN Awards ('The Green Oscars') in San Francisco in 2018, collaborating on the Special Projects Committee, and, most recently, serving as an independent financial auditor for the association.

Rachel remarks, "Joining the network is a significant milestone for Montrose LandxSea Film Fest, as it aligns with our commitment to showcasing Scottish talent globally and bringing the finest international green films to our Montrose audience. Our inclusion enables us to connect with global partners, from Turin to Toronto, Tokyo to Tehran."

GFN AT LANDxSEA

Starting in 2024, each LandxSea Film Fest will feature selected highlights from our international GFN partners. Details regarding the 2024 Festival programme will be unveiled in August.

GFN AWARDS

The annual Green Film Network Awards are accolades recognising the best green filmmaking from around the world, including Best Green Feature and Best Green Short. Nominated by each of the GFN member festivals and selected by an international jury, the awards include a special presentation & screening at a GFN festival each year. The 2023 Awards, hosted by Cinema Planeta, took place on the 7th December in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

Starting in 2024, LandxSea looks forward to nominating British filmmaking talent to the awards each year.
