2024 YOUNG FILMMAKER COMPETITION

Your chance to show your environmental film on the big screen!

Every year, we screen films from young people who are actively protecting our planet and getting involved in documentary filmmaking.

Enter the Young Filmmaker Competition to win cash prizes and a special screening of your film at LandxSea Film Fest in September 2024. From recycling to taking transit to growing a garden, show us how you're making a difference.

The contest is open to young filmmakers age 18 and under. It is free to enter and there are no restrictions on style or genre or how many entries you may submit. Finalists are also entered into competition for our Young Filmmaker Award! Enter by 1st June to take part.

LANDxSEA AWARDS

Filmmakers are going to great lengths to uncover new territory and provide a new take on the most pressing environmental issues. Each year we honour a number of those films and filmmakers with a LandxSea Award.

NORTH LIGHT AWARD

LandxSea is excited to announce the North Light Award for Best Scottish Environmental Film at the Montrose LandxSea Film Fest 2024.

This new annual accolade includes a £500 cash prize and will be awarded by a jury of film and environmental leaders. The North Light Award celebrates the best in independent filmmaking in Scotland, honouring innovative storytelling and fresh perspectives on environmental issues.

Eligibility extends to filmmakers currently resident in Scotland or films that significantly feature Scotland.

Finalists for the inaugural award will be announced in August and showcased at LandxSea in September 2024.

GREEN FILM NETWORK

LandxSea is proud to be the first UK organisation to be part of this prestigious international alliance, which includes 32 film festivals across 23 countries, all committed to fostering environmental stewardship through the power of cinema.

Starting in 2024, each LandxSea Film Fest will feature selected highlights from our international GFN partners. Details regarding the 2024 Festival programme will be unveiled in August.

The network's activities include the annual GFN Awards, accolades recognising the best green filmmaking from around the world, including Best Green Feature and Best Green Short. LandxSea looks forward to nominating British filmmaking talent to the awards each year.
